The Wastewater Collection B course is 30 hours in length and is the advance-level course for the FW&PCOA Voluntary Certification Program for Wastewater Collection System Operators. To receive the Level B certification, the student must have the FW&PCOA Wastewater Collection C certification, attend the FW&PCOA course, pass the FW&PCOA certification examination and document 3 years (or 6,240 hours) of hands-on experience in the operation and/or maintenance of a wastewater collection system. Students with as little as 2 years of hands-on experience may attend the course and take the certification exam, but the FW&PCOA will withhold certification until the student meets all certification requirements.
The FW&PCOA Wastewater Collection B course provides an advanced, in-depth examination of wastewater collection systems, and includes administration and organization, safety/survival programs, inflow and infiltration, and sewer rehabilitation.
The course uses two course books, Operation and Maintenance of Wastewater Collection Systems, Volume I and Volume II, available from the Office of Water Programs, Sacramento State University. These are the same books used for the Wastewater Collection C course. Students are required to acquire the course books prior to class.
The course runs from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday through Thursday, with a 1-hour lunch break. The end of course exam will be given on Friday, starting at 8:00 a.m.
Region 7 will also offer repeat exams for other disciplines on Friday, July 26th, starting at 8:00 a.m., but requires advance registration. Please complete and submit an applicable exam application.
The course applicant, or exam applicant, has the option of registering on-line or registering by traditional methods (mail, email or fax). In either case, please complete and submit the course/exam application provided in the course information packet, link follows.
If you have any questions, please contact Region 7 Treasurer Tim McVeigh at 07-treasurer@fwpcoa.org.
