Course Title: Lead & Copper Rule for Field Staff (DS/DW02007066, 0.2 CEU) Instructor: Maria Loucraft (Maria's Biography) The United States Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA) released the original Lead and Copper Rule in 1991, to control lead and copper in drinking water (40 CFR Part 141, Subpart I). At the beginning of 2021, the USEPA issued Lead and Copper Rule Revisions, culminating in the release of a new rule, Lead and Copper Rule Improvements (LCRI), on December 16, 2021. The agency set a compliance date for the LCRI of October 16, 2024. This course provides a general overview of the five major components of the rule, but then dives into the detailed requirements for Field Distribution Staff. This presentation provides concrete steps Field Staff and Field Supervisors can take to work with their utilities to ensure compliance with the rule. This is a 2-hour (0.2 CEU) continuing education course that is applicable to Drinking Water Treatment Plant Operators and Water Distribution System Operators. This course is not applicable for Wastewater Treatment Plant operator continuing education. Please select the "CEU for 2 licenses" option during registration. Please bring a government-issued photo ID (drivers license) or employer-issued photo ID with you to the course. Pre-registration is required, so all you have to do is sign-in at the training event.
